$ senior software engineer — vilnius, lithuania (eu · remote-friendly)

I figure things out and get them done. I've spent twelve years at Robin, from a small startup onwards, and worked on nearly every part of it: the product, the platform underneath, the infrastructure, and lately AI. If something needs doing and nobody quite knows how, I'm usually happy to be the one who finds out. Sometimes that means leading a big change, sometimes helping someone else's land.

Robin — Senior Software Engineer

2014 — present · remote

Joined as an early engineer and stayed through several generations of the product and the platform under it. Over time my work moved from building features to looking after the parts everything else depends on, and to leading the bigger changes.

  • AngularJS → React. Built a big part of the original AngularJS app, then helped move it to React piece by piece, while it kept shipping. Fixed the upstream ui-router bugs that were in the way.
  • Maps. Started the indoor maps product from empty repos and kept growing it for years. Built on Mapbox GL and later MapLibre, and most recently replaced that with our own vector renderer, so maps load faster and look better.
  • AWS → Google Cloud. Led the company-wide move: Terraform for every service, the cutover, and switching AWS off at the end. Moved services from Datadog to OpenTelemetry on the way.
  • Platform upgrades. Led the PHP 8 upgrade of the core API, rolled out region by region. Before that, moved maps from DynamoDB to Postgres and helped the product run in separate US and EU regions.
  • Services & integrations. Built services and integrations across auth (OAuth, SAML), calendars, HR systems, and building hardware. Helped grow the GraphQL federation layer that ties them together.
  • AI. Helped take the company's AI product to production and built the MCP gateway connecting it to the rest of the platform.
  • When things break. Usually one of the first in. Led incident response, security cleanups, and infrastructure cost work.
  • Team. Lots of code review and mentoring, and the occasional RFC to get everyone pointed the same way.
